Arriving at Idrija historical centre, you cannot really miss the lovely coffee bar Kavarna Vega in Idrija. Rich with fresh cakes and amazing Slovenian wines, it has become a trendy meeting point for locals and tourists. The place is run by Patricija and Jan, who will always serve coffee or wine with a smile. We had a chat with Patricija and asked her what she likes about Idrija.

Patricija, can you introduce yourself?
My name is Patricija. I like to bake cakes, I work in a bar in Idrija. I do sports, I like rollerblading. In my free time, I like to do activities with my friends.
What did bring you to Idrija?
I came to Idrija as I work in a bar, which I run together with my boyfriend. He lives in the nearby village, where I also moved to. Idrija is a very nice and calm town, many activities happen here. Every Thursday and Friday, there are concerts, events like Idrija Lace Festival and Idrija Žlikrofi Festival, and many interesting activities and adventures.
As a pastry chef, how do you imagine a cake named Idrija would look like?
As a pastry chef, I often think about creating new cake flavours. For Idrija cake, I would use geruš (a special liquor) to soak the biscuit and add vanilla cream and some fruit fillings.
Why do you like Idrija?
I prefer to be in Idrija, as the people here are nice and friendly. I like meeting friends and visiting the Bela swimming resort, park Mejca, or the former mining chimney – Raufnk.
